This image shows one of our prototypes for a high speed point tracking vision system. Several cameras like this are used to track the 3D position of multiple points on a human operator.
Real time performance is of primary concern, so that an operator does not notice any delay in feedback or 'lag' when using the system as an input device. Image processing is handled entierly on board by a risc processor & optimized assembly language.
Highly compressed point data is transmitted to the host computer via a USB connection. A relatively large number of cameras can be connected to the same host computer without any noticable slowdown in the useability of the system.
The input from two or more cameras is utilized by the host computer to triangulate the three dimensional position of the points being tracked.
